When hit ACIDSPLASH 100%
This body has swollen to immense proportions, but still manages to hold itself together with semi-congealed acid all over its bloated body. It clumsily moves around, but attacks with a large reserve of acid.

This creature is a cow sized ZOMBIE, HUMAN. It's an incompetent fighter with very high hit points. It's slower than you, clumsy, has high armor against bashing weapons and low armor against cutting ones (that includes bullets). Its special ability allows it to nothing, every 5 turns; barfs corroding acid that blinds if it hits the eyes, every 5 turns.

It has extremely high morale and it's totally aggressive. Being a ZOMBIE, HUMAN, it's afraid of ZOMBIE, HUMAN, and can be angered by ZOMBIE, HUMAN.

It can see, can hear noises, is able to smell characters, stumbles around, is warm blooded (it appears in infrared), can bash destroyable objects in its way (like doors), gets help from surrounding monsters when bashing objects, is poisonous to eat (produces tainted meat when butchered), is immune to acid, has acidic blood, doesn't breathe (it's not affected by smoke, toxic gases, drowning, etc), resuscitates after a few hours (unless its corpse is either smashed to a pulp or butchered), can produce bones and sinews when butchered, can push creatures out of its way, and nothing else.

Being made of flesh, it's vulnerable to nothing in particular.

Will splash acid on the attacker when hit, 100% of the time.
When it dies, nothing in particular happens. If it is burned to death it can transform into a scorched zombie.

(View - Edit Notes )Notes

The corrosive zombie is one of the most common and ultimately weaker special variations of the average zombie. It is, along with the shocker zombie, a ranged fighter that will spit at you from a short distance away. Unluckily for you and for all nearby its saliva (and blood for that matter) is actually a horrid, flesh-melting, highly corrosive acid.

The special attack

A corrosive zombie will only perform its special spit attack when closer than 10 tiles from the player, when performed, this attack will spit an acid glob at the target. This can also blind on a hit. (It does not leave puddles of acid on the ground.)

The zombie can also barf sticky acid on nearby targets, which if you aren't armoured enough can stick and do damage over time.

Fighting

The corrosive zombie is a slightly better combatant than its normal counterparts. It is not worth it to engage it in melee due to the acid barf. Pick it off from a distance, or run away as it is slow. Beware that, even if you are too far away for the acid barf, it can still do ranged damage via spitting.

Notice however, that while corrosive zombies themselves are immune to their acid, other zombies aren't, so with some clever positioning and appropriate timing, you can lure other pursuing zombies through the death puddle, or have have their spit hit other zombies, often damaging them considerably.

Notes

  • When killed it spawns a puddle of acid on the location of its death.
  • smashing the corpse of a corrosive zombie will produce acid puddles around the corpse, which will have the expected results on you and anything nearby.
  • Acid has no effect on traps or on vehicles, items inside vehicles are also safe.
