This creature is a tank sized nether inhabitant. It's a very competent fighter with insanely high hit points. It's a bit slower than you, clumsy, has high armor against bashing weapons and extremely high armor against cutting ones (that includes bullets). Its special ability allows it to say nonsensical and disturbing things, every 40 turns.
It has extremely high morale and it's totally aggressive. Being a nether inhabitant, it's afraid of being hurt, and can be angered by nothing in particular.
It can see, is able to smell characters, can swim, has a great resistance to bashing damage, ignores the effects of sludge trails, has acidic blood, is immune to acid, has no distinguishable head (it's unaffected by head shots), regenerates over time very quickly, when moving it absorbs any items lying below it (gaining HP equal to the item's volume - even in excess of normal maximum HP), can cause it to spawn a copy of itself, regenerates morale and aggression when its health is at maximum, does not leave any remains (body pieces) when blown apart, and nothing else.
Being made of flesh, it's vulnerable to nothing in particular.
When it dies, it melts away.
(View - Edit Notes )Notes
- Hard-hitting and, thanks to extremely potent regeneration (50 HP per turn) difficult to kill - fortunately they are slow. Running away is probably the best way of dealing with these, at least unless you can deal massive and sustained damage. Shotguns or flamethrowers may be the way to go, if the area is non-flammable or the risk of burning down the area is worth it.
- Will consume objects it flows over, and if it consumes enough (massive amounts) it will split into two shoggoths.
- If you see a popup stating "From the [direction] you hear 'TEKELI-LI!'", proceed with extreme caution - there is likely a shoggoth (or many) nearby.
- Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's fiction, in particular At the Mountains of Madness
