Map memory is a new feature added in 0.D (Danny), it remembers what you have seen in the past. Some mutations Forgetful, Good Memory and stats might improve or reduce the max amount of overmap tiles you can remember.

Turn off and on with the { key.

Map memory stores structures, vehicles and plants. It does not remember monsters or items. The player can also not use the look around command on remember tiles: the game always says they are currently unseen. Map memory also assists with auto navigating at night in a vehicle: if the player cannot see ahead of themselves enough they will not be able to auto move. Having the tiles you are traveling through in a map memory allows you to auto navigate.

You can edit the color of remembered tiles in the options.
