The topic needs: don't think it is great idea to have a page for each tool quality, it just makes more lists of data which aren't maintained. Unless we automatically generate that, but why not use the item browser for that. (message added by Soy)

Tools have a quality of a certain level, indicating what the tool does and how well it does it. They are used for crafting and other tasks. For example, an aluminum bat can be used as a crude hammer and thus has a HAMMER 1 stat. But it is no where near a useful for hammering as an actual hammer, which has a HAMMER 3 stat.

The item browser has lists of tool qualities, and the items which have those qualities. For the experimental version, and stable.

Level Range: 1

Used in Chemical crafting when working with Mutagens.

anesthesia

Level Range: 1

Used with specialized medical equipment for surgery.

anvil

Level Range: 1 - 3

Used in Metalwork crafting.

awl

Level Range: 1 - 2

Used in Leatherworking.

bolt turning

Level Range: 1 - 2 (3 with Magiclysm)

Level 1+ is used for basic mechanic tasks and crafting.

Level 2+ is used for intermediate and advanced mechanic tasks and crafting.

butchering

Level Range: -120 - 37 (45 with Magiclysm)

Level of butchering affects the end results when butchering corpses. (Recommended not to pulp bodies you intend to butcher or dissect).

bullet pulling

Level Range: 2

Used for disassembling firearm ammunition.

chiseling

Level Range: 1 - 3

Used in Woodworking and Metalworking crafting.

chromatography

Level Range: Unknown

Used in both analysis and purification.

clamping

Level Range: 1

Used to craft a Workshop Toolbox, and build an Arc Furnace.

containing

Level Range: 1

Used for holding items, and for Food and Chemical crafting.

concentration

Level Range: 1

Used for Mutagen crafting.

curved needle

Level Range: 1 (2 with Magiclysm)

Used in Tailoring, especially when working with neoprene.

cutting

Level Range: 1 (5 with Magiclysm)

Can be used to cut up an item, or write up on an item.

Also used in crafting.

Level Range: 1 - 2

Used in churning milk to make butter.

digging

Level Range: 1 - 3

Level 1+ Upturn earth, Dig pit here, Fill pit / Tamp ground, Dig water channel here.

Level 2+ Clear rubble.

distilling

Level Range: 1 - 2

Used in the distillation of alcohol and chemicals.

drilling

Level Range: 1 - 3

Used in crafting recipes.

filing

Level Range: 1 - 2

Used in crafting recipes.

fine bolt turning

Level Range: 1 (4 with Magiclysm)

Used in crafting recipes.

fine cutting

Level Range: 1 - 5

Used in dissection of Corpses. (Recommended that you don't pulp corpses you intend to dissect).

Used in the distillation when working with chemicals and mutagens.

Used in crafting recipes, usually in the crafting of weapon mods.

This quality is used for some constructions and recipes. However it has a secondary function: it can be used pry open objects.

Prying 1 and above can open sealed crates, and lift manhole covers.

Prying 2 and above can open locked wooden doors and windows. (Both can trigger alarms, while windows have a chance of breaking).
