Dreams

WARNING: This page may contain spoilers and ruin the joy of adventure.

Once you are sufficiently mutated, you will begin receiving dreams, relating to how strongly mutated you are toward your highest category - they are the only way a player can see their mutation category strength in-game. Once you reach tier 3 dreams, you will have a chance to breach the threshold by injecting serums.

Strength 1 Dreams

Lizard:

"You have a strange dream about lizards."

"Your dreams give you a strange scaly feeling."

Medical:

"You have a strange dream about being a patient in a frightening hospital."

"Your dreams give you an oddly medicated feeling."

Bird:

"You have a strange dream about birds."

"Your dreams give you a strange feathered feeling."

Fish:

"You have a strange dream about fish."

"Your dreams give you a strange wet, scaly feeling."

Beast:

"You have a strange dream about animals."

"Your dreams give you a strange furry feeling."

Ursine:

"You have a strange dream about bears."

"Your dreams give you a rough furry feeling."

Feline:

Lizard:

Medical:

Ursine:

Feline:

Elf-A:

Chimera:

"You can't quite work out what the dream is about… it just keeps changing."

"Your dream is filled with creatures, and yet all seem like you."

Raptor:

"You dream of stalking some sort of lizard… no, that can't be right, can it?"

"For some reason you dream of your shoes. They don't fit, and nothing seems to help..."

Mouse:

"You dream of… sneaking."

"You dream of a cold winter night. Your jacket is too big to put on."

Strength 3 Dreams

Strength 3 represents the highest strength reachable pre-threshold. At this stage, you will be able to cross thresholds.

Lizard:

"You are terrified by a dream of becoming a lizard hybrid."

"You have a disturbingly lifelike dream of living as a lizard."

Medical:

"You have a dream of doctors and nurses doing unnatural things to your body, which brings you perverse pleasure."

"You have a vivid dream of being a medical anomaly, as your heartbeat syncs with the steady drip of an IV line."

Bird:

"You have a realistic dream of flying south with your flock for the winter."

"You are disturbed when your birdlike dreams are more lifelike than reality."

Fish:

"You have a disturbing dream of swimming with a school of fish."

"When you wake up you panic about drowning from being out of water."

Beast:

"You vividly dream of running with your pack, hunting a wild animal."

"A terrifyingly real dream has you killing game with your bare teeth."

Ursine:

"Your dream of raiding a giant beehive has you licking your… muzzle in anticipation."

Feline:

"A warm, sunny spot high up where you can watch your prey. What a great dream!"

Lupine:

Cattle:

Cephalopod:

Spider:

Rat:

Alpha:

Elf-A:

"NO! You will not allow this corruption to prevail!"

"You see yourself reflected in the beauty of the forest."

Chimera:

"You are many animals, and yet one."

Raptor:

"You've never felt so lithe and powerful."

"After an exciting and tasty hunt, you retire to your nest. Mmm, yes, nest."

Mouse:

"You weave between the zombies' legs, too small for them to catch. The gas station isn't far now, with all its soda and chips and- UGH, dream..."

"Once you finish your tasty dinner of seeds, you look around for your drink, but you already ate it."

Strength 4 Dreams

Strength 4 are only achieved post-threshold.

Lizard:

"You are terrified by a dream of becoming an ape hybrid."

"You blissfully recall days spent lounging in the sun."

Medical:

"You dream of your legions of undead admirers, their attentions, and the wonderful pain."

"You have a vivid dream of being a medical anomaly, as your heartbeat syncs with the steady drip of an IV line."

Bird:

"You wonder if your nest will be good enough."

"Your dream of soaring over the landscape becomes a nightmare when you find yourself with arms and a glider!"

Fish:

"You have a comforting dream of swimming with a school of fish."

"The thought of being out of water, forced to crawl unsupported, terrifies you."

Beast:

"You vividly dream of sharing a kill with your pack."

"A fond memory of throating some prey animal bubbles up."

Ursine:

"You wonder if you could find one of those 'salmon runs', or if they were just a legend..."

"Ah, the wolf-slaying dream again. That's a good one..."

Feline:

"Boing! and you've pounced another yummy critter."

"Your nightmare of sentient rats turns successful, as you grab their King and shake it apart!"

Lupine:

"You dream of the hunt, the feed, and your pack."

"Oh, you should really patrol your territory again, maybe expand."

Cattle:

"You dream of jumping the gate and leading your herd to freedom."

"The herd moves along and you with them, finding greener pastures."

Insect:

"You feel smug, knowing that the Queen is dependent on you."

"You dream of a weirdly shaped plant, whose nectar surpassed your every wish..."

Plant:

"You dream of bees fighting over your sweet nectar. Mmm."

"How grand it would be to sink your roots deep into the soil as the seasons pass you by."

"You dream of a gigantic knot of roots, beating like a heart."

"You have a disturbing dream of termites chewing all over your body."

"You dream of sharing your roots with a vast forest, all plants provided for as the canopy grows ever upwards."

"A family of caterpillars munches away at your leaves."

"Fire rages around you, licking at your bark and engulfing the saplings and bushes near your roots. The once chatty forest is quiet in its wake."

"You dream of communing with an ancient pine. Trees are the true survivors of this world, it tells you."

"A rather attractive triffid offers you a bouquet of ape heads. How thoughtful!"

Slime:

"Your vivid dream of your pseudopods calcifying into rigid structures terrifies you."

"Ah, the painting-the-planet dream again. Maybe if you assimilated more..."

Troglobite:

"The years seem to fly past as you dream of carving great underground fastnesses."

"You have a horrible nightmare of being caught out in the sunlight."

Cephalopod:

"Mmm. The shellfish dream again. Yum!"

"You dream of recruiting a cult of fishfolk to serve your needs."

Spider:

"You excitedly web up an interloper and prepare to feast… nope, dream."

"Your dreams of having to live without a web frighten you."

Rat:

"The Fury is so big! It's GONNA GET YOAAAAAH! *pant* only a dream."

"You find your paws twitching. There's a cave. You should go."

Alpha:

"You dream of the peaceful world you'll give humankind. Because no one else can."

"There are underground Faults in the world. Faults you should remedy."

Elf-A:

"You pant, terrified at the thought of that FUNGUS destroying your home!"

"You wish others could understand, and join your struggle..."

Chimera:

"Your body flows slightly faster than you expected… oh, just a dream."

"FIGHT. FEED. FORWARD."

Raptor:

"Oh. No, that 'rex' thing was only a myth."

"You stir, saddened that your beautiful hatchlings were only a dream."

Mouse:

"You curl up some more in your nest. Geez, shredded paper really *is* comfy."

"You hear the sirens again, but this time you stay in your hole in the wall. Nobody will think to look there!"

Marloss

Strength 1 Marloss dreams. Preliminary testing cannot get them to show up, even with all four mutations debugged in.

"You dream of a strange quest for a bush that grows gray apples."

"You feel like you're cracking a combination lock."

"Red, blue, and yellow cancel each other out, don't they?"

"Red, blue, and yellow add together, don't they?"

Mycus

Post-threshold Mycus dreams.

"We have been waiting a long time for a place such as this."

"We will raise bountiful orchards and beautiful gardens."

"The walking plants seek to harness us as a food source. We will not allow that."

"Our colonists are limitless. We shall adapt to this world, as we adapt to all."

"Non-Mycus sometimes reject the Marloss. Our colonial efforts flourish with broad-minded guidance."

"The seething masses attempt to wall non-Mycus away from the Marloss. We will adapt and defeat them."
