Spring is the first (in most scenarios), and one of the two safer seasons in Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead, alongside autumn.

Weather

During the first days of spring, the weather is mainly flurries, as the days pass, the flurries tend to be replaced by drizzles by the afternoon, causing relative wetness if the player hasn't got good enough protection.

The temperature during the season tends to be cold, but gets milder and eventually warm as the days get closer to summer.

Rain is a common weather occurrence during spring once the flurries die off.

Plants

During spring, wild vegetables can be abundantly foraged from underbrushes in forests, wild herbs, salsify, bee balm and garlic can also be found.

Fruits do not grow from any bushes and trees during this season.

Early in the season, it will be too cold to plant seeds, but as the temperature warms up, farming can eventually be started.

Tips

  • See the First Day Guide for tips on surviving the first day, which is almost always set in spring.
  • Keep your winter clothes on during the start of the season, as it will still be relatively cold, winter clothes commonly have decent protection.
  • A funnel is great during this season due to the abundance of rain, just make sure you have the means to boil or purify the water...
  • Try and gather or craft low warmth clothes for summer, and stockpile enough non-perishable/long lasting food and water for the later seasons, especially for winter.
  • As the weather warms up ready for summer, change to cooler clothes so you don't overheat.
