These soldiers are equipped with an analogous compact module technology, known as 'XFS' in press release documents, believed to be similar to CBM technology favored by NATO forces. "We're not concerned by these announcements," DARPA spokesperson Linda Iridani told our reporters. Bionics research is the R&D that went into creating the Compact Bionics Module technology. It could also be applied to the work that went into inventing an individual CBM, though that is less likely.
