Links to spells/monsters etc
Perhaps we should add '(magiclysm)' to the end of all the links to the monsters and spells. Im worried about overlap between already basegame items/monsters and things added/changed by different mods. --Soyweiser (talk) 00:20, 24 August 2020 (MDT)
Help with spell infobox?
Seeing as this is a wide open gap on the wiki currently - that is, that there are no details on any of the Magiclysm spells - I figured I could start remedying that. But I'm not very good at making brand new pages - usually just do simply edits for wikis. Could anyone help me make a simple info box for spells? I am not an experienced editor by any stretch, although I'm familiar with basic formatting and whatnot. NorionV (talk) 00:08, 18 December 2020 (MST)
- Not sure if I'll be able to (it's been quite a while), but the first two things to do should be, first, locate a template to base it off of (maybe Template:Book?) and, second, determine what the different fields should be - [[1]] has a rather long listing of possible ones, but most of those won't be found for every spell. -Actual-nh (talk) 15:12, 19 December 2020 (MST)
- It seems as if most of the fields found in an infobox are pre-existing parameters that can't be easily modified - at least unless I'm doing something wrong. For example, I can't simply add 'shape' to an infobox in a flexible manner - I think it has to be created somewhere else first and then referenced. So I'll probably just put most of the spell's info in the text of the page itself for now, at least until I figure out how to do this part or someone else does it, lol. - How are you trying to modify them? Sorry if I wasn't clear - I was suggesting making a copy of something like Template:Book to Template:Spell or whatever and modifying that template first (such as the field names), then trying including it in a test page (with the appropriate information. I'm currently somewhat lacking in sleep and need to do some grading in any event, but I will try to take a further look at it in the next week or so. -Actual-nh (talk) 19:41, 19 December 2020 (MST)
- So for example, when I try to edit using 'Book' as my template. The first section of that template is 'Infobox/Item', which no matter what I change seems to always keep Volume, Weight, Price, Materials, etc visible, just blank or with a zero. And I can only add/remove stuff that already fits into that infobox, which a lot of it doesn't have to do with spells. If I try to do something like 'shape=blast' it won't even be visible in the infobox, or might even break it and make it appear strangely. It's possible I'm simply doing this super wrong, because as I said I've never created anything new - always just edited existing stuff in wikis.
- I suppose I could just fill in what I can and put the rest of the details as a copy/pasted list in the actual text, and just let the superfluous values stay there until someone smarter comes along and fixes it. But it would be neat to know how to do this infobox business, too. NorionV (talk) 22:41, 19 December 2020 (MST)
