O tutorial room
See Cost 5

The tutorial room is the room where the tutorial takes place. The Tutorial of C:DDA spawns you into the Tutorial Room, which is square in the middle of a large lake, as "John Smith". The tutorial world is different to regular worlds in that the world starts at day 1, so expect very low temperatures; and you can't customize your character, you're stuck with a blank slate.

John Smith starts with absolutely 0 skills (except for a 5 in melee), no clothing, a lighter (which will tumble to the floor since he starts with no storage), and the Quick trait. With a 0 swimming skill, you won't be able to carry much out.

Many actions performed in the tutorial world will produce an information box at the top of the screen, providing useful information to a new player. As of 0.E-3 and probably earlier, the info boxes may not appear when their requirements are met and sometimes appear without meeting the requirements.

The tutorial room has a section above ground and below ground. The above and below are split into two halves: top and bottom, by a wall with 6 doors and 3 curtained windows.

Above ground

You spawn in the top half of the 1st floor, and the bottom half of it contains:

Below ground

Below ground is identical in structure to the above ground, except with no loose items on the ground or in the display rack. There is also a 2x2 square of shallow water, if you get thirsty and can't warm your water.

Escaping

To escape, follow these three simple steps:

1. Pour the gasoline from the gas pump onto the ground.

2. Light the gasoline with a lighter or a grenade, although the grenade is less consistent.

3. RUN AWAY!!!

After some of the fire clears out, you can then adventure through the world as you please. However, there is a bug as of .6 in which you can't go down the stairs in any building but the tutorial room. Any attempt to do so is followed up with the prompt "There is something blocking the way about half-way down."
