A common component in construction. They can most easily be obtained in bulk by chopping down trees and turning the resulting logs into planks. This can be done via the construction menu and requires 1 tool with tree cutting of 2 or more. Additionally, this trains your construction skill. Can also be found by smashing or deconstructing anything made of wood.
