Comestibles/Seeds

Seeds can be planted to grow various fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and otherworldly horrors, why would you do that? You traitor to mother earth!. Just place them in a dirt mound and wait.

For a more detailed description of how farming works, see the farming guide.

  • Thirst and hunger go up by 1 every 5 minutes (50 turns); so a quench of 12 lasts for 1 hour (600 turns). This can be changed by Bionics such as the Recycler Unit, or mutations such as the Light Eater trait.
  • Quench MAY be less than zero — salt water and liquor make you thirstier.
  • For rot measurements (spoils), it is hours after the item's creation. For most other things (including painkillers), it is measured in turns; 10 turns = 1 minute.
  • Actual spoilage time depends on ambient temperature, stopping completely in Freezing temperature.
  • Crafted food is created roughly as fresh as the average of all perishable ingredients used (the remaining freshness is rescaled to new spoil time).
  • One stimulation point lasts for 5 minutes, also comestibles with caff effect decrease fatigue for 3 points per one stimulation point.
  • Fun can also depend on traits and mutations. A cannibal eating human flesh gets a lot more fun out of eating.
  • Most drinks come in containers, and cannot be drunk off the floor.
  • Most meds are capable of dissolving in water, if not held in a watertight container.
  • Most meds have 0 volume and weight.
  • Prices might differ while trading. If a second value is included in the price, this is the price a NPC trader uses.
  • Weight is per unit, so if you find a certain Comestible, it weighs the weight multiplied by the amount of charges plus the weight of any container.

  • Seeds that have a red colored fruit field will not provide seeds on growing, if it is green they will produce seeds.
  • Growth period is in days; it is modified by the season length setting in-game, and it is based on real world season length (91 days). The default in-game season length is 14 days. So if you play on default season lengths, the grow period takes one-third of the time listed here.Verify (The in-game season length default is actually 91 days. This doesn't make much sense.)
