Mutation immunity

I just looked at the code - you're right about lack of immunity, seems my knowledge was based on pre-DDA mutation code. Since I don't want to step through the code line by line right now could I confirm - has immunity to positive effects granted by negative traits also been removed, or is that still around? Also, my reading of the code (and my experience of the game) indicates that traits which are purchased will still count for the purposes of the mutation roll to enhance existing traits - is that correct by your understanding? -Jahannan (talk) 20:01, 2 June 2014 (PDT)

There is no immunity to mutations.

if you have a trait that's part of a linked set (FLEET and PONDEROUS, forex), you have to lose that trait before mutating the other way. So that requires one more mutation/"step", giving some amount of protection.

if you start with FLEET, you have it as a prereq for Road-Runner, correct. You could get Enhanced to Road-Runner; if the roll came up Ponderous, you'd first lose Fleet. If you had another mutation in the queue, that would then take you to Ponderous. If not, you'd stay at human-norm. (Starting Fleet-Footed does NOT count for mutation category: you're no more spidery than if you had not purchased FLEET at chargen.)

Hoping that helps. KA101 (talk) 19:35, 3 June 2014 (PDT)

Good to get that confirmed.

Re: FLEET as prereq for Road-Runner, I am referring to it counting as having the mutation for the purposes of the second step of mutate() - where the game looks at the mutations you already have and considers whether to pick one that enhances one you already have rather than choosing a new one. AFAICT it does count for this (and in my opinion it probably should). -Jahannan (talk) 20:43, 3 June 2014 (PDT)

Please transclude mutations, not copy paste them

Use

{{:Night Vision}}

not

{{trait|NIGHTVISION|Night Vision|2|0|0|You can see incredibly well in the dark! Activate to toggle NV-visible areas on or off.}}.

Else this kind of copy paste work makes maintaining the wiki almost impossible, as it will go out of date. --Soyweiser (talk) 09:29, 31 January 2018 (MST)
