Riding
Hi! Thanks for contributing. I'm glad when there are some more editors around here.
Your experiment report has been useful. I've also found a farm with (not yet zombiefied) horses in F-3. I could tame a horse and I could mount it and ride, even take a bag on horse back. Just a question remained: I could not descend from the horse. The proposed key '^' didn't work . I had to stop playing and use my security savefile to continue my avatar's survival. Do you have any useful idea how to bypass my little " ^ " problem? Maybe I should add that I'm not a native speaker and don't use an English keyboard layout. I'd guess that the programmers have produced a code gap, that's the most probable explanation.
Nevertheless I'm happy that mostly the 0.F-3 game code works excellently. If I'd have to avoid horse riding that's only a small loss. -- J. C. (talk) 18:20, 26 March 2023 (MDT)
- I found this information using 0.G, though I don't think the mechanics for horses have changed since the previous version.
- As for dismounting from a horse, I would suggest going into the keybindings menu (bound to ? by default), finding the entry for "Control vehicle" and changing the binding to whatever ^ outputs on your keyboard (or whatever you want if you'd like to use another key). You mentioned that you have a foreign keyboard layout, most likely your ^ key actually prints a different but identical looking character, a circumflex instead of a caret.

- Okay, thank you! Changing that binding is an idea. I'll give it a try. (But it has no priority because I'm busy aiming at other progrresses: autumn harvesting farm fields and canning for winter; finding a science lab on my map and enter it; building an own small group of NPC followers eventually). By the way: steering a bicycle and a motorbike did work for me with the existing control vehicule binding. Just the horse descending did make an exception. -- J. C. (talk) 16:09, 30 March 2023 (MDT)
B12 deficiency
You stated that the vitamin mechanics no longer work. Maybe you're right. I'd like to know (just curiosity) what evidence facts are available to prove it. How did you find out? -- Well, OTOH a detail that is not very important for playing CDDA. Seems that the guy that created it wanted just too much?
There is a fork called Bright Nights as you surely know that has cut away a lot of complicated stuff live craft proficiencies. A simpler game. But at least that project is alive and gets updated. I confess that I'd prefer the more complicated original which I've been exploring for less than 3 months now.
Just a question: why have you been kidding about a version 0.G? Both of us should know there is no CDDA version downloadable beyond the experimental 0.F-3 from late november 2021. - J. C. (talk) 05:27, 27 March 2023 (MDT)
- It is true that in recent versions, vitamin B12 is no longer considered. When you press e to eat something, you can look at the very top of the menu to the tab labeled "Vitamin Intake". These are the only vitamins which are currently implemented, and lists only Vitamin C, Iron, and Calcium. You can see the percentage of your survivor's RDA of each of these vitamins on every food item. This is easily testable if one just looks at a DaiZoom bar - it has 33% of RDA of each of these vitamins, and no others. I'm pretty sure all vitamins that affect gameplay have always been shown in this menu, I remember when vitamin B12 was on this menu and was shown on food.
- As for 0.G, have you done any investigation as to whether 0.G has been released or not? It certainly took a long time since the last release, but it does exist, you can just check for yourself on the releases page. I apologize if I've missed some joke.

Recharging batteries
Well, there is no shortage of batteries if you go scavenging. Also I fabricated tools like battery charger etc. Regrettably I've got no idea how to start the recharging without using a repaired car and its alternator while driving around. Did you possibley find a more easy way to recharge batteries? What about solar panel, wind turbine? (If you never ever explored that and have no clue - no problem.) I'm just curious about different approaches. -- J. C. (talk) 17:00, 30 March 2023 (MDT)
