Forests make up a large portion of the wilderness, they are dense with shrubs, underbrushes and trees. Strawberries, apples, and blueberries can be found in forests, as can heavy sticks.

A particular forest might be a Sparse forest, a Dense forest, or a spider pit. There will be a lot of webbing and 1-2 web spiders. Sometimes, there's also an underground Cavern full of webs and a trap-door spider lair accessible via sinkholes & a downslope. However, not every spider-surface has a spider pit underneath.

Rarely a forest tile may spawn a deserted house with a basement. Here you will find a multitude cult enemies, notabley Dementia and a single blood sacrifice.

There is another type of house that appears in a forest tile known as (for lack of a better term) a haunted house, here the windows are boarded up, a wraith spawns here, which itself spawns shadows, wraiths are very tanky boss monsters, the shadows have very weak attack by themselves and each one will disappear as new ones spawn, they will only really grab the player to make them vulnerable to the wraith.

As of 0.E Ellison, forests can contain forest trails, a much faster and often safer means of navigating the forest.

If you want to travel safely through the forest, it is best to either stick to forest trails, or bring a firearm if you need to go through the thick of the woods, animals, including hostile ones, will typically run away if you fire at them or wound them, just beware of zombie animals once monsters start evolving.

The deadliest monster that can be found in the forest is the enormous and fast Jabberwock, if you run into this monster, use any explosives or firearms you have on your character to try and kill it, it's speed makes it very unlikely for you to lose it by running.
