How to survive your first day
When you start, talk to the NPC in the shelter. Ask them if they have any jobs for you, this will help you later. After you have accepted their job, say you can't leave the shelter without supplies or can you share any equipment. This will bring up 6 dialogue options, choose the one with the highest number. If they refuse keep asking. Although you may not get anything worthwhile, it may come in handy later. Next go down into the basement and search for any items. If you're lucky you may find a backpack. It's a good idea to smash ('s' key) a locker to get a pipe as a basic melee weapon for the moment. Now look at the map ('M' key) and look for the nearest town. Good Camp Locations
A good camp needs three things. 1. Water Source: Woodland critters won't give you water, and hauling toilet water to your camp will cut into your Shia LeBouf style activities. 2. NO SWAMPS: Seriously, swamps will DESTROY even one month survivors. Hauling water from these is bad too. 3. Distance from town: Can't be leading NPCs into your home to eat them while they are running off to kill zombies.
