A food processor may be used instead of a quern to make flour in about 11 minutes, rather than 45 minutes using a quern, or over 1 hour using a mortar and pestle. A good source of flour is cattails, from swamps. Once the rhizomes are made into starch, the starch can be then made into flour. Be quick though! Starch spoils very fast. Wheat is also good for making flour, and is somewhat preferable due to wheat being shelf stable.
