Fatigue display

Fatigue > 191 Tired
Fatigue > 383 Dead tired
Fatigue > 575 Exhausted

Fatigue > 1000 Massive Fatigue (not displayed, internal only)

How does it increase?

How does it decrease?

  • By sleeping (press $).
    • Aqueous Repose mutation lets you recover fatigue faster when sleeping underwater.
    • Mycogenesis mutation lests you recover fatigue faster on fungal ground.
  • By consuming some of the stimulants, especially containing mildly addictive caffeine, like coffee, cola, energy drink, tea and certain drugs. Many of those items have variants, or derivatives like the extreme atomic coffee. Remember that not all stimulants will reduce fatigue, and those that do are marked internally in the code with CAFF flag.
  • Special military grade stimulant injectors can reduce fatigue.

Effects

Your character will sleep on their own if you don't make them sleep regularly:

  • Fatigue >= 192: You'll be warned every 50 turns ("You're feeling tired. Press '$' to lie down for sleep.") and will be prompted if in the middle of an activity ("You're feeling tired.")
  • Fatigue > 383, (Dead tired and above): You'll take stat penalties as a "disease", with encouragement to sleep.
  • Fatigue > 575 (Exhausted and above): You'll randomly microsleep. These won't markedly help your fatigue but can be dangerous in combat or driving situations.
  • Fatigue 600: You'll be warned every 10 turns ("You haven't slept in 2 days!")
  • Fatigue 800: You'll be warned ("Anywhere would be a good place to sleep...")
  • Fatigue 1000: Your character will sleep on their own. Fatigue will be reduced by 10 ("Survivor sleep now.")

Other interactions

  • Fatigue has many interactions with sleeping factors. In short the higher the fatigue the easier it is to fall asleep.
  • Fatigue reduces body temperature when sleeping.
  • Fatigue above Dead tired reduces your healing factor during sleep (75%).
  • Fatigue caps focus. See: Focus.
  • Fatigue field causes fatigue as a result of clashing dimensions. ("The fabric of space seems to decay.")
