For a character with this trait, there is around 0.03% chance per turn that an asthma attack will happen (the chance rises with stimulation level). If the character has an inhaler and is awake and not underwater, then he or she will automatically use it to suppress the attack. In other cases, the character gains this effect for 50-200 turns, and will wake up if sleeping, or lose half of oxygen if underwater).
