Broken limbs are the result of a limb (Left Arm, Right Arm, Left Leg, Right Leg) taking too much damage. They cannot be healed by regular means as medication and first aid kits don't have any effect. This status effect is not listed on your character page '@'.
@ : Good job, hero. You broke it. And this time it is your own body.
How can I tell if a limb is broken?
A broken limb has no hitpoints. So it looks like R ARM ----- or if you have the Self-aware mutation, R ARM 0. In 0.D (Danny) it looks like R ARM ~~%~~.
You can also try:
- See if you can apply a healing item. It will only work if it isn't broken.
- Sleep, if you heal it isn't broken. Don't have the Slow Healer mutation, or else you cannot tell.
In 0.D (Danny) the @ status screen mentions Disabled (specific bodypart) for all the bodyparts that have been disabled. Note that feet and legs, and hands and arms are different locations, all which can be broken when the specific limb is at zero HP and you get hit.
Effects of broken limbs
If a limb is broken, you obviously can't use it. Broken legs/feet slow down walking. Broken arms/hands make using twohanded weapons impossible, or using any weapon impossible.
And broken limbs also have bad circulation. So they get cold a lot quicker.
How to fix it
Whether you have met a turret up close or had an unfortunate accident, there are currently two ways to fix a broken limbs:
- Wear an Arm splint or Leg splint continuously for a few days. In 0.D (Danny) you will see a representation R ARM ##=== of how far you are in the healing process on the bodypart. Should take a few days for it to heal. Which doesn't scale with season length.
- Don't forget to put the splint on the correct limb. In the inventory, select the splint and change the side.
- Visit a Hospital and look for "Mr. Stem Cell" computer terminal. After successful hacking attempt (unsuccessful will sound alarm), Stem cell treatment will be applied, healing broken limbs a little, so that you can continue by using regular medications. Note that there is a 1/6 chance of melting your skeleton instead of mending it, damaging all the body parts..
