 A man-sized crustacean clad in an iron-like chitin, capable of emitting the most horrible of shrieks. Often spotted near shipwrecks or other dark damp places, which it uses as nesting grounds. 

This creature is a human sized mutant. It's a competent fighter with moderate hit points. It's a bit slower than you, quite clumsy, has high armor against bashing weapons and extremely high armor against cutting ones (that includes bullets). Its special ability allows it to shriek, creating a noise that can attract other creatures, every 6 turns; very loudly shriek, creating a big noise that can attract other creatures, can do some small bash damage, and can cause a stun effect, every 1 turns.

It has extremely high morale and it's mostly aggressive. Being a mutant, it's afraid of nearby fires, and can be angered by nothing in particular. It can also be angered by when the player gets within a few tiles, nearby monsters of the same type dying, nearby monsters of the same type being attacked, being hurt. It's also afraid of nearby fires.

It is able to smell characters, can hear noises, can see, can produce chitin when butchered, can swim, can grab you, bleeds hemolymph, walks around most dangerous terrain and traps, and nothing else.

Being made of flesh, it's vulnerable to nothing in particular.

When it dies, nothing unusual happens.

  • The name of these creatures, their high armour, and their location where they found, may be a reference to the mirelurks from the Fallout series, which are crustaceans mutated by radiation, one of the higher level razorclaw is known as a alpha razorclaw. Many of the official tilesets seem to design the razorclaw like the mirelurk too.
  • These monsters are quite rare, being found only in shipwrecks on the rivers but have high armor, and have a shriek ability quite similar to screecher zombies, their high numbers and armour make attacking razorclaws without preparation suicidal.
  • They can be wiped out with the death of their queen, the alpha razorclaw, but her armor is even tougher, and it's hard to even get to her in the first place with her armored subjects.
