This creature is a human sized insect. It's a very competent fighter with very high hit points. It's faster than you, extremely agile, has moderate armor against bashing weapons and very high armor against cutting ones (that includes bullets).
It has very low morale and it's mostly aggressive. Being a insect, it's afraid of being hurt, nearby fires, and can be angered by nearby monsters of the same type dying. It can also be angered by being hurt, nearby monsters of the same type dying, when the player gets within a few tiles, when the player looks hurt, when following the player.
It can see, is able to smell characters, PATH_AVOID_FIRE, can fly over water, traps, fire and acid, is very hard to shoot at (some hits are treated as misses), likes to stay with others of its kind, has better morale when around friends, and nothing else.
Being made of insect flesh, it's vulnerable to nothing in particular.
When it dies, nothing unusual happens.
(View - Edit Notes )Notes
- Giant wasps can found singularly in fields, forests, and in large numbers in and around wasp nests (see below).
- Giant Wasp nests spawn inside of houses, and are recorded as regular houses on the map. The house has the same loot table and contents as a regular house, however the player may have to 's'mash the paper walls out of the way to get to them.
- Giant wasps can provide chitin when butchered, which is an essential component in the fabrication of some types of armor and in plant fertilizers.
- These mutant giant insects are rather dangerous to an underprepared and unskilled player, as they can attack quickly and multiple times during a turn, their venom can weaken the player, making it even more difficult to fight them, and they have decent dodge against players, avoiding them until better skilled and equipped is recommended.
- Almost always try to stay out of sight of them. As they have a movement rate of 150 and are quite aggressive. You are best prepared to challenges if you can kill one isolated exemplar with 3-4 high damage strikes in melee.
- For more information, check the Dealing with Wasps guide.
