This creature is a cow sized nether inhabitant. It's an extremely competent fighter with very high hit points. It's faster than you, very agile, has moderate armor against bashing weapons and no armor against cutting ones (that includes bullets). Its special ability allows it to lash you with its tentacle(s), every 5 turns.
It has extremely high morale and it's totally aggressive. Being a nether inhabitant, it's afraid of being hurt, and can be angered by nothing in particular.
It is able to smell characters, can hear noises, has no distinguishable head (it's unaffected by head shots), can bash destroyable objects in its way (like doors), can swim, attacks any creature in its way, has a great resistance to bashing damage, is immune to acid, and nothing else.
Being made of flesh, it's vulnerable to nothing in particular.
When it dies, it melts away.
Notes
The thing was originally from a novella written by John W. Campbell, Jr. called "Who Goes There?"; the book was later turned into a movie in 1951, called "The Thing From Another World." later on, John Carpenter created the movie most remembered by fans "The Thing."
The statistics here are for the third and final stage of the Thing. When you first encounter it (as a Mine finale; they don't randomly spawn) it will be a Friendly Dog. It then erupts into the Tentacle Dog once in range or when you kill it, and that then becomes the Thing when you kill it. Fortunately, it cannot contaminate or assimilate others (namely, you), though it's generally a worthy enough opponent that it does not need that ability.
